2006 District Three Nominating Committee
Nominating Committee The Nominating Committee, elected by the members entitled to vote at Conference in non-election (even-numbered) years, prepares a slate of two (2) candidates for each District Office. The Nominating Committee is composed of three (3) or more members (as determined by the District Board of Directors), from a slate consisting of one (1) nominee from each Club. No club may be represented on two consecutive Nominating Committees. To be eligible for election to the Nominating Committee, a member must: • Be an Active Member or Active Retired member • Must have served a term as President of a Club The candidate receiving the highest number of votes cast serves as the chairman. Committee members serve for a two-year term beginning with the close of the Conference at which they were elected. Vacancies on the District Board are filled by the District Board of Directors. No member of the Nominating Committee is eligible to be slated for District Office while serving as a member of the Nominating Committee. District Officers All elected officers are elected by ballot at the Conference in the odd numbered years from a slate prepared by the Nominating Committee. Any candidate who shall receive a majority of all valid votes cast shall be declared elected. In the event there are more than two (2) candidates for any one office, and no candidate receives the majority of all valid votes cast on the second ballot, the candidate receiving the least number of votes is eliminated from each succeeding ballot. * Thanks to John Furches for his help in making the District Officer Nominating Forms more user-friendly. Please read his notes below on filling out either the Word document or the .pdf document. The data may now be entered into the MSWord form without having to worry about the text pushing the succeeding material further down the page. The user may fill in each blank and tab to the next. Those using this form may complete the information, print it, and save the information to a file on their computer which may be opened again later. The Adobe Acrobat file may be read as always with Acrobat Reader. I have added fields that may be filled out while using Reader to view the form. This provides the responses in typed text just like in MSWord above. However, Reader will not save the form with this added data. The only way to retain that information is to print it. If you wish to use it again later you must type it all back into the form. Clearly MSWord is the better format for those that have it. In Acrobat Reader there will probably be a small checkbox at the top right of the program the calls for the fields to be highlighted. This does make it a little easier to use, particularly when you start filling in the data.
