Altrusans in Action: Our Light Shines Bright
Altrusa is an international organization of
professional women and men who volunteer their talents to improve the
communities in which they live. The International theme is Leaders in
Service. As a community service organization, Altrusa espouses
volunteerism and service, fights for literacy, and helps combat aids.
On the International level, our top service priority is literacy. Our
service projects are based on determining the local needs of our
communities. Every club is encouraged to provide services that are
fulfilling an unmet community need. Consequently, there are a wide
variety of projects offered throughout the District.
Altrusa also enhances the leadership abilities of youth ages 12-25
through sponsoring an ASTRA club. The purpose of ASTRA is to promote
personal development, career planning and leadership training.
District Three serves clubs in the states of Florida, Georgia, North
Carolina, and South Carolina. If you are interested in becoming an
